Jordan Peele and Randall Park are teaming up on a historical genre film about Japanese-American soldiers during World War II

Jordan Peele is collaborating with WandaVision AND A huge success star Randall Park for a new film project. The film is described as a historical drama film about the lives of Japanese-American soldiers during World War II.

Randall is writing a screenplay with Michele Golamco (Always be my maybe) and the story will “use the lives of Japanese-American soldiers in World War II as a jumping-off point.”

The film is inspired by the approximately 33,000 Japanese Americans who served in the U.S. Army during and immediately following World War II. An estimated 800 of these soldiers were killed in action. There is no information on the “genre” aspect of the story. We don’t know if it will come into play on or off the battlefield.

Regardless of the genre aspect of the film, this is just an interesting story and I like that Peele and Randall are trying to shed light on these Japanese-American soldiers during World War II and explore their stories. This is enough for me to want to see the movie! The whole genre aspect of the story will just add another interesting layer.
