Chris Pratt has landed another big movie role as the actor will star in a new sci-fi project titled Mercywhich is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Carlo Roven (Oppenheimer). The film project is set up at Amazon MGM. Pratt and Bekmambetov had previously worked together on the action film Wanted.
The film is set in the near future “when capital crimes have increased. The film follows a detective (Pratt) accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence. This isn’t a concept we’ve ever seen before, but the talent attached to the film is what makes it interesting.
Jennifer Salkehead of Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement: “From the moment Chuck Roven brought us Mercy and we read Marco van Belle’s screenplay, we knew the film was destined for the big screen. Like our relationship with The list of terminals AND Tomorrow’s warChris Pratt continues to branch out across the films, we can’t wait to see him bring this action-packed story to life, guided by Chuck and the vision of director Timur Bekmambetov. We couldn’t imagine a better star and filmmaking team to execute and deliver what is sure to be a gripping thrill ride and we can’t wait for audiences to experience it in theaters.”

The film was written by Marco van Belle (Arthur and Merlin), and production on the film will begin in the spring.
