The first season of HBO The last of us was highly praised by fans and generously rewarded in its first season, winning eight Primetime Emmy Awards and earning three Golden Globe nominations. The episodes were wrapped up in beautifully told stories and many talents were involved both in front of the camera and behind it. Season 2 will be no different, as a slew of talented new directors have signed on to direct next season’s episodes.
The new lineup of directors includes Marco Mylodwho is fresh off winning an Emmy for directing the HBO series Successionas well as Nina Lopez-Corrado (Perry Mason), Stephen Williams (Guardians) AND Kate Herron (Loki). They join the returning directors Peter Hoarnominated for an Emmy for directing the touching Season 1 episode 3, “Long, Long Time,” as well as The last of us co-creators, executive producers and showrunners Craig Mazin AND Neil Druckmann, who will also take on directorial duties again. It’s unclear whether any of the seven directors will direct more episodes; The first season consisted of nine episodes directed by seven directors.
The last of us The second season is expected to arrive on HBO in 2025.
