Mattel is moving forward with a Bob the Builder film based on the popular children’s television show that ran for 21 seasons from 1997 to 2018. Antonio Ramos (Hamilton, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) agreed to voice protagonist Roberto, aka Bob (Ramos), who travels to the enchanting island of Puerto Rico for a major construction job, tackles issues affecting the island, and delves into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Latin nations of the Caribbean and their people.
The popular Bob the Builder The television series, which focuses on Bob the building contractor and his friends, was created with “little builders” (preschoolers/first graders) in mind through stories that empower them to work as a team with imagination, positivity, and right tools. The globally syndicated show ran successfully for 12 seasons (1999-2011) and is especially known for Bob’s cheerful catchphrase: “Can we fix it? Yes we can!”
Philip Vargas is attached to write, and Mattel is producing alongside ShadowMachine and Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions.
Bob the Builder It joins other Mattel films in development, including American Girl, Barney, Hot wheels, Magic 8 ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, matchbox, Polly Pocket, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas and friends, One, View MasterAND Swinging arm. Mattel Films is also in development Christmas balloona holiday family drama based on a brand new intellectual property.
