If you thought that Helen Shivers’ story had ended up in 1997, think about it. Sarah Michelle Gellar made an unexpected return to I know what you did last summer Franchising in the new sequel that recently hit cinemas. The actress recently opened on how everything joined and because she never saw this coming.
“I don’t think I had anchored,” said Gellar during an interview with the Las Culturistas Culture Awards in Los Angeles.
Directed and co-scored by Jennifer Kaytin RobinsonThe film follows a group of ex -friends from the high school driven out of a killer a year after a fatal car accident, which is exactly the same configuration as the original film but with a new cast that includes Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Chase on wonder, Tyriq Withers, Austin Nichols, Billy Campbelland Gabriete. The script was co-scripted by Sam Lansky.
I didn’t like the movie at all. But I’m sure there are people you liked and they were thrilled to see Gellar’s return.
According to Gellar, this cameo was not a last minute idea.
“Jenn Robinson brought it to me like three or four years ago – this was a long process – I thought:” It is a good idea, but you don’t know. Do people still love the film? People still watch the movie? “”
And even if Freddie Prinze Jr. AND Jennifer Love HewittThe involvement in the film was public knowledge, Gellar kept the sealed lips. At the recent premiere, he walked on the red carpet but did not make interviews with the film. Why? Because, despite the brutal death of Helen Shivers in the first film, Gellar returns to a nightmare sequence.
“Jenn continued to say from the beginning to me:” You have to do something “, and I said:” I died. I died. It is not supernatural. “He was like” I will understand it. “And he did it and it was brilliant.”
Fans will recognize Helen instantly in the sequence of dreams belonging to the character of Cline, Danica Richards. Gellar seems to wear his crown of Croakes Queen and the dress from the 1997 film, and it was a moment that hit the actress hard.
“It was so surreal. When they put it in my head and they put my dress and then I stayed there – they had a photo of mine since I was the queen of the Croaker [in 1997] Next to it – I was like “Oh, this is crazy”.
The scene in which it is quickly takes a dark turning point. “While the scene continues, the blood starts running on Helen’s face before you start decomposing,” said Robinson in Variety. “I wanted it to be really disturbing. I wanted it to be bright, beautiful and effervescent and I liked Helen chills that remember, and then I wanted it to become more and darker and dark while the scene progressed.”
Gellar admitted that he had confused some fans by denying his involvement, but technically he does not lead.
“I always said,” I died, “he laughed.” I don’t lie. Not chin. I’m dead. “
Prinze Jr., who returns like Ray in the new film, said he liked to keep the secret under the compresses.
“I’m quite good at keeping secret, so it’s not difficult for me,” he told the premiere. “But I had friends who were like” come on, friend, you could tell me. I was like “I’m not telling you anything, friend. You have to come and see the film just like everyone else.”
The new I know what you did last summer Leave in theaters last weekend and if you haven’t seen it, don’t waste time.
