Denzel Washington2010 post-apocalyptic action film The Book of Eli is getting a prequel series and John Boyega will be the protagonist and executive producer of the series. The original writer of the film Gary Whitta (Rogue One) created the series and is also writing and executive producing it.
Boyega will play a younger version of Wahsington’s character Eli in the film, set 30 years after a nuclear catastrophe caused ecocide. The film’s story follows Eli, a nomad fighting his way across a devastated, post-apocalyptic America while protecting a sacred book that holds the secrets to humanity’s salvation.
There aren’t many details about the story, but it is said to be set 30 years before the events of the film, which would be set during the time of nuclear devastation or its immediate aftermath.
Book of Eli was a solid movie and could very well make a really interesting series. I’m curious to see how it turns out and it should make for an exciting project for Boyega.
Alcon Entertainment is producing the project, which is being commissioned to select buyers.
