A new trailer has been released for the Jennifer Lopez a sort of musical biopic, This is me… now. The film was written by Lopez, with Matt Walton AND Ben Affleck; based on a story by Lopez, director Dave Meyers AND Chris Shafer. The singer and actress stars together in the film Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Kim PetrasAND Ben Affleck.
The synopsis reads:
“This is me…Now it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen from JL. A narrative-driven, intimate, thoughtful, sexy, funny, fantastical and highly entertaining musical and visual retelling of her publicly examined love life. Together with director Dave Meyers, Lopez creates an immersive cinematic experience that redefines the genre: an extravagant visual and aural feast with impressive choreography, star-studded cameos, costumes, sets and blockbuster-worthy visuals. While a surprisingly vivid spectacle, the film is ultimately a heartfelt ode to JL’s journey of self-healing and undying belief in fairytale endings. Audiences will be captivated and leave hopeful that true love can be more than a dream.
I like J-Lo, but it feels like a 2 hour music video/fever dream. I’m not so sure he hit the mark in making a film that both explains itself and entertains the audience. But maybe it will be better than it seems. Check out the trailer below and watch This is me… now streaming on Amazon Prime on February 16.
