Guy Ritchie will reportedly no longer direct Disney’s live-action HERCULES

A couple of years ago it was announced Aladdin AND Rip director Guy Ritchie would direct a live-action adaptation of Hercules for Disney. Now it seems that the director is no longer attached to the film and the project is stalled.

The news comes from Scooper Daniele Richtmann and was also supported by The DisInsider Show team. Apparently, Ritchie is too busy and is focusing on making other projects. It was recently announced that he would direct a film titled Fountain of Youth with John Krasinski AND Natalie Portman.

As for the long-awaited Aladdin 2the sequel is said to be a long way off, if it ever gets made.

Disney’s Hercules is produced by Joe AND Antonio Russoand before talking about it, Joe explained that the film will be “a little more experimental in tone, a little more experimental in execution,” adding, “I think they’re excited to see what we can bring to this movie.” in a way that isn’t simply a reinterpretation of the animated film.”

Joe also said that Ritchie was “perfect because he has a penchant for experimentation”. He went on to add that the live-action “Hercules” will also be a musical – and shares the original’s unconventional approach, saying: “There are questions about how to translate it as a musical. The audience today was formed by TikTok, right? What are their expectations for the look and feel of that musical? It can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries of how a modern musical is performed.”

With Ritchie out, it will be interesting to see who Disney brings in to replace him. I like Ritchie as a director and I bet his take on Hercules would have been a lot of fun. He did a great job with Aladdin. But, I admit, I’m more excited about the other projects he’s developing.
