Disney+ has ordered a pilot to make a sequel series to the show Wizards of Waverly. Star of the original series David Henrie will star and executive produce the potential series, with the original star Selena Gomez he will guest star in the pilot and will be an executive producer. Henrie will reprise his role as Justin Russo, while Gomez will once again play Alex Russo. Includes additional cast for the pilot Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio ThieleAND Mimi Gianopulos. Disney Branded Television is behind the series.
The series’ official description says it “picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has abandoned his wizard powers, opting for a normal human life with his wife (Gianopulos) and two children (one of them). (who will be played by Thiele.) But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard (Brown) in need of training shows up on his doorstep… and Justin must embrace his past to secure the future of the Wizarding World.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas are writing and executive producing the pilot, with the duo having previously co-created the Disney sequel series. Raven’s house. Along with them, Gomez and Henrie, Gary Marsh and Andy Fickman also serve as executive producers, with Fickman directing the pilot.
The original Wizards of Waverly it was one of the most popular Disney Channel shows of its time. It aired for four seasons between 2007 and 2012, during which time Disney also produced the Disney Channel Original Movie Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.
