Vincent D’Onofrio talks about when Marvel decided to make the Netflix series DAREDEVIL canon, but not everything is canon

Marvel Studios recently confirmed that the Marvel Netflix shows are now canon, and during a recent interview with the Daredevil star Vincenzo D’Onofriorevealed when Marvel decided to make this decision and how it went.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, D’Onofrio talked about how Marvel executives came together during the filming of Daredevil: Born Again and I decided to make Netflix Reckless canon to the MCU. He explained:

“During the reboot of the whole creative part of Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, ‘Look, this is how we have to do it now. So we definitely just talk about it in terms of it being directly related to the original Daredevil, and that’s a great thing. It brings with it a lot of interesting stories and all the side stories that happened in those original three seasons.

You’ll notice that D’Onofrio only mentions Netflix Reckless and not the other shows like Jessica Jones, Luca Gabbia, Iron fistOR The Punisher. With The Punisher, however, he will appear Daredevil: Born Againso it would make sense that his past story arc would also be important.

But some additional information recently surfaced on John Rocha’s podcast, where he explained that while these Netflix Marvel shows are now considered canon, not everything carries over. Marvel Studios, however, will choose what they want from the past without being tied to the creative decisions of Marvel Television.

Roche said: “What would not have been the same Daredevil as Netflix, will now be the same Daredevil as Netflix, with the asterisk of not everything is canon.”

It’s pretty interesting to see how this all went down. This all happened after a new creative team was hired to do a creative overhaul Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently under development by the administrators Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorheadwho worked on both Knight of the Moon AND Loki. Dario Scardapanewho worked on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan as well as Netflix’s Marvel show The Punisheris the showrunner of the series.

Charlie Cox he will return to the role of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the series, and will be joined by him Vincenzo D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk. Also includes Michele Gandolfini, Margherita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michele Gaston, Arty FroushanAND Clark Johnson in undeclared roles.
