John Wick franchising director Chad Stahelski He wants to have fun at Marvel Studios, and there’s one project in particular he’d like to try his hand at directing… Lama.
During an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stahelski talked about his career and explained that he has a good working relationship with Kevin Feige. In fact, he calls Feige a mentor, saying:
“Look, I’ve done a lot of work for Marvel and they’ve been very, very good to me. Kevin Feige… he was almost a mentor in terms of advice that he was very happy to give me on how to open a franchise with John Wick.”
Stahelski has worked on many stunt elements in the MCU over the years. He went on to talk about his desire to face Blade, saying:
“Of all the things out there, I’d give Blade a shot in a second. Like it’s something that gets under my skin, like ‘Ah! I’d give that a shot.'”
He would be the perfect director for a film like Blade because it’s the type of film that will depend on quality action and stunt performances. Lama is currently in the midst of a long development and has gone through several writers and directors. But Mahershala Ali is still committed to starring in the film… for now. The director currently involved in the project is Yann Demange.
Stahelski understands that the time is not right for him Lama, but it’s something he and Feige have discussed. He said:
“We’ve talked about it, but look, they’ve got a good formula… they’re moving forward and I think they’ve got the right people involved in Blade now… I’m not in the Inner Circle but we’ve had talks… Just for one reason whatever, things go together, and there’s a good solution for everything out there. But for what they’re doing, they’ve got a great thing going, but if that thing doesn’t work work on it, in five years… maybe in the fourth Blade reboot or the fifth Blade reboot…maybe I can pull Wesley back and jump in.”
There is a possibility that the director could direct a Lama movie one day. This first one most likely won’t be, unless Demange drops out at some point!
