Jeremy Allen White is on the promotional circuit for his wrestling biopic, The Iron Claw, which tells the dramatic and tragic story of the Von Erich brothers’ wrestling dynasty. Opposite white stars Zac Efron, Harris DickinsonAND Holt McCallany in the film, which is getting many awards. It’s great to see him in roles worthy of his talent, aside from his incredible starring role in the FX series The bear.
One of the best episodes of any series I’ve ever seen occurred in the second season of The Bear, and the episode was titled “Fishes.” Season 2, Episode 6 featured an all-star guest cast that included Bob Odenkirk, Gillian Jacobs, Sarah Paulson, John MulaneyAND Jamie Lee Curtisin a performance that left the fans who watched it speechless.
When Variety asked him what it was like working with Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, White explained:
“She was so excellent, so prepared. She understood Donna this way before she even stepped foot on set. It’s a pretty difficult thing to do, even for established actors like Jamie, to go into a world and make a choice very quickly, to flesh out a character and adapt to the environment that’s already been established. And she knew it. She just understood. And I remember her coming to me and it was a wonderful moment. I hadn’t met her yet. We had exchanged a few messages, but it was before filming the Christmas episode. She tapped me on the shoulder while I was at base camp. I turned around and she held my face and looked into her eyes for a while. None of us said a word. She gave me a big hug. And then, she just went back to her trailer. We didn’t exchange any words, and I think it was just her way of connecting with me in a real and caring way before Carmy had to confront Donna the way he had to at that time in that episode.
As for what we can expect from the show’s third season, White said:
“I’ll tell you the truth, I think they wrote a couple of scripts. I haven’t read any of them. I know I’ll be spending a lot of time meeting some chefs in January. I believe there will be a set menu for the restaurant in season three. And I know I’m going to start putting that menu together with different chefs and cuisines and just try to get ready to do more stuff like that in front of the camera. We all did a lot of preparation before the first season. I went to culinary school and spent a lot of time in restaurants and stuff like that. And then for season two, it was largely about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t a lot of cooking. But now, in season three, I think we’re going back to that working kitchen atmosphere that we had in season one.”
I can’t wait to see what happens in season 3! The bear is one of my favorite shows on TV right now. It’s so well acted and so well written, and its first two seasons were flawless. The bear will return in 2024.
