Jeremy Renner is days away from returning to production on season three Mayor of Kingstown, a year after a snowplow accident that nearly killed him.

In an interview with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen on CNN’s New Year’s Eve special Sunday night, Renner told the co-hosts, “I think I’m ready, I think I’m strong enough. We’ll see… I’m literally going to a week back. But I’m going to do my best and do my best.”

The interview took place on the eve of the release of the first single from his new album on January 1st Love and Titan. The album’s songs were inspired by Renner’s recovery.

When asked by Cooper how he managed to get through his “incredible battle with the years of recovery,” Renner said, “I’m just so blessed to have so many things to live for, bro.” I have a big family, I have a 10-year-old daughter, [and] If I had died, I would have disappointed and really ruined a lot of people’s lives, so I can do a lot of things better.”

He added that he was “quite stubborn”. Sobbing, Renner explained, “There was a lot to fight for, and recovery was a one-way street for me. My recovery became a relief to me because I knew I could provide relief to my family, my daughter and everyone who really touched me. And for my poor cousin who was with me that day, I gave him pictures that he will never be able to see again, but I know that my healing will be a healing for him.

“In doing this,” he continued, “I never thought of my own physical ailments, my own pain, or my own fear.” I had to fight for so many things, so the only way to recovery was my mental attitude, and this one Attitude was always about getting better. There is no other option than this. And I still work every day on every part and thank God that I struggle a lot.

Renner was seriously injured in the snowplow accident on January 1 and broke more than thirty bones. The accident occurred while Renner was plowing snow in the driveway of his Lake Tahoe home on New Year’s Day 2023. He was trying to stop the snow removal tractor from sliding and hitting his cousin when he was pulled under water and crushed. The Hawkeye The actor was flown to a hospital where he was treated for “blunt chest injuries and orthopedic injuries.” He recently visited the Reno hospital again to thank the staff for their care in the first days after the accident.

Renner plays Mike McLusky, a power broker in a fictional Michigan town Mayor of Kingstown. The series revolves around his family as they grapple with corruption and inequality in the city.

The series, which airs on Paramount+, was renewed for a third season in May.
