New promotional spot shared for Marvel’s ECHO – “Who’s The Monster?”

Marvel Studios is two weeks away from releasing its next film Hawk eye spin-off series Echo, and today we have a new promotional spot to watch to remind us. The commercial anticipates the reunion between Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) and Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (Vincenzo D’Onofrio).

There are some interesting and interesting pieces of new footage in the short teaser, some of which focus on Lopez’s Native American roots. Sydney Freeland, executive producer and director of Echo, shared some insights into how this spinoff series will explore Maya’s past, saying:

“In Hawkeye, he had a very close relationship with his father, but we’re going to delve deeper into that and show the relationship he has with the rest of his family: his mother, his grandmother, his other relatives. And also, within the culture native and in native societies, “family” can have different meanings: you may have someone you are close to and you are not biologically related, but that is my brother or sister.

“I probably have five moms. I have one biological mom, but I have four others who are also ‘my mom,’ and so I think between that and the relationship with Kingpin, it’s all about exploring the definition of family. What does it mean to be Are you related to anyone?”

Freeland also praised Alaqua Cox’s work as Maya, saying, “I’m so excited for people to see what she can do. Yes, we have fight sequences, but one of the things I’m most proud of about this series is how much it’s exciting. Alaqua is the beating heart of this show.”

The series centers on Maya Lopez as she “struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations of a life of crime as the successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. In the first episode we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”

Initial reactions to Echo were positive and it was described as dark, brutal, violent and gory. While the series is said to have gone through some problems behind the scenes, it seems like perhaps the creative team managed to make a great show.

Echo is developed by Ethan Cohen AND Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers of the show. The series is also the protagonist Charlie Cox, Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Devery JacobsAND Graham Greene.

All five episodes will release on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10, 2024.
