Deadpool 3, Beetle juice 2 And Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire tops Fandango’s list of the most anticipated films with a wide release in 2024. (See the full top 10 and other charts below.)
The NBCUniversal-owned digital film brand surveyed 8,000 ticket buyers about the titles they’re most looking forward to and also gauged their mood for the year ahead. About 81% of respondents say they are more excited to watch movies in 2024 than in 2023, and 88% say they plan to watch multiple movies.
The mindset of moviegoers has been hard to discern in recent years, as Covid and the streaming boom upended decades of traditional ways of doing business. Theaters have gradually demonstrated their potential as moneymakers, but it seems likely that studios will release fewer films next year, in part because of the strikes. The Fandango cards also show Hollywood’s increasing reliance on famous intellectual property. After Dead pool, Beetlejuice And Ghostbusters Franchise episodes feature the rest of the most anticipated top 10 in order: Dune: Part Two; Poison 3; despicable me 4; From the inside out 2; Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim; Gladiator 2; And A Quiet place: Day one.
The annual survey also found that 80% of ticket buyers believe that the movie theater experience cannot be replicated at home. As a result, 71% said they plan to watch films in a premium format such as Dolby or Imax by 2024.
