Marco Ruffalo had a wild time as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the MCU, and the last time we saw him was at the end of She-Hulk: Lawyer when he introduced his son Skaar. This created a pretty great storyline for the character, and I think it’s safe to say that it will eventually lead to a Hulk movie. Marvel Studios is said to be developing a Hulk movie, which they can do now as they have bought back the rights to the Green Goliath.
Although there is a Hulk movie in development, Marvel Studios has asked Ruffalo not to comment on it. During a recent interview with CB, when the actor was asked if the Disney and NBCUniversal Hulu deal changed anything about a Hulk movie, he responded:
“Not that I know of. I’ve been asked not to comment on that specifically. I’m hoping that one day they’ll work this out. I think it could be really good and I’ve put a lot into it, it could be good, but I don’t know yet.”
As Marvel moves forward with a Hulk movie, it looks like things are setting up for a World War Hulk-inspired movie. However, it could be inspired by any number of Hulk story arcs from the comics. But watching an angry Hulk seek revenge on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is a story fans would love to see.
World War Hulk is a storyline that takes place after the events of Planet Hulk. Hulk, exiled from Earth by the Illuminati, landed on the distant planet Sakaar, where he became a gladiator and eventually a ruler. However, tragedy struck when his adopted home was destroyed, leading Hulk to return to Earth in search of revenge.
If Marvel is developing a solo Hulk movie, there are obviously no plans to officially announce it anytime soon. What kind of Hulk story do you think Marvel will tell?
