Director and head of DC James Gunn is working to organize all titles in development at DC Studios, including its next title, Superman: Legacy, which will kick off a new era of superhero films from the studio. While taking the job at the head of the film division was a huge undertaking, Gunn made sure to focus on the film that he will use to usher in his new Superman and Marvel’s MCU-like interconnected universe.
In a recent social media interaction, a fan asked Gunn where he’s at with the script Superman: Legacyand replied, “99.9%. I always change little things, but essentially it was done well before the strike.
David Corenswet will star in the film as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult was cast as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion He’s Green Lantern, Isabela Mercede it’s Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi will play Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, and María Gabriela de Faría plays Angela Spica, aka The Engineer. She announced it recently Skyler Gisondo plays Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio she was cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes lover of the scheming villain Lex Luthor.
Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy will launch the cinematic portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
