Nicolas Cage says he only wants to make 3 or 4 more films and maybe TV is the next step for him

Sounds like Nicolas Cage he’s starting to think about retiring from making films! The actor recently shared in an interview that he only wants to do three more films out of four, but he remains open to television projects. I mean, yeah, the guy has made over a hundred movies over the course of his career, but he’s just not that damn fun to watch and I don’t think fans are ready to see him go. During an interview with Uproxx, Cage said:

“I mean, I like to stay fresh. I mean, I like to keep mixing things up. I don’t want to get stuck in any one genre or style of performance. I want to do it all. And I feel like I have, at this point – after 45 years of doing to do this, in more than 100 films – I feel like I’ve pretty much said what I have to say with cinema.”

Then he continues to drop the bomb about how many films he has left in him, but it won’t be so easy for him to come out:

“I would like to leave on a high note and say, ‘Adios.’ I think I’ll have to do maybe three or four more films before I can get there, and then I hope to change formats and find some other way of expressing my acting.”

The actor goes on to say that he’s already contracted to do more than those “three or four” more performances, saying:

“I would have liked to get off to a flying start… But I have other contracts to complete, so we’ll see what happens. I mean, I’m going to be very strict and very astringent as the selection process goes on. But to make another film, I want to explore other formats.”

He added that while he may be done making movies, he’s interested in doing episodic things on TV:

“I’m very interested in immersive streaming with episodic television. I’ve seen things that can be done now with characters and the time they have to express themselves. I saw Bryan Cranston staring at a suitcase for an hour on an episode of Breaking Bad. We don’t have time to do it in a feature film, so maybe television is the next best step for me. We’ll see.”

What do you think about what Cage is trying to do with the future of his career? What projects would you like to see Cage take on in the future?
