Not long after Melissa Barrara was fired from Screams 7, Jenna Ortega he also dropped out of the film. He was said to have dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with her Wednesday Season 2 filming schedule.
According to a report from THR, Ortega had actually exited the franchise months before Barrera was fired. Their sources tell them that Ortega asked for a much higher payment for the seventh installment due to the popularity it has become since then. Wednesday It was released.
The report says: “Ortega had been paid six figures for her previous installments, but her team now wants projects with significant earnings, something the Scream franchise isn’t known for. Sources say she was seeking seven-figure sums and expected Spyglass to balk.
According to inside sources, Spyglass boss Gary Barber “is known for having keen business sense or being tight-fisted, depending on which side of the table you’re on.” So it seems like he wouldn’t have been willing to shell out the money to bring Ortega back to the franchise.
Now that the two protagonists have disappeared, director Christopher Landon and the writing team of James Vanderbilt AND Guy Busick, they are developing a new story. There are reports that the studio wants Neve Campbell come back as Sydney Prescott and Patrick Dempsey as Mark Kincaid from Scream 3.
While some fans aren’t sure the franchise will continue to thrive after this behind-the-scenes drama, there’s a good chance everything will be fine as long as the creative team finds a good story to tell.
