A new set of photos has been released by Prime Video to promote their upcoming adapted series, Mr. and Mrs. Smithhero Donald Glover AND Maya Erskine. From co-creators and executive producers Donald Glover (Swarm, Atlanta) AND Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo), the series, a reimagining of the 2005 film, stars Glover as John Smith and Maya Erskine (PEN15) as Jane Smith.
“In this version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, two lonely strangers find work for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel and a dream house in Manhattan. The socket? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now that they’re married, John and Jane embark on a high-stakes mission each week while also facing a new milestone in their relationship. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they discover real feelings for each other. What is riskier: espionage or marriage?”
Speaking about the series, Glover said: “It’s definitely going to be different for a lot of people, which I think is good. You can always go back and watch the old one, but this one gives you a different feel. People are definitely going to be shocked. I just know how much the people love each other, so if everyone says, ‘Huh,’ we haven’t done a good job. I hope some people say, ‘This is better than the original,’ and some people say, ‘This is a lot worse.'”
He added: “I had never seen the movie, which I know was sacrilege. I watched it and, honestly, I thought, ‘I don’t understand it.’ I mean, I understand why it’s iconic because of the people who star in it: there are just two wonderful people in this situation. But I didn’t quite understand the story. I called my brother and he said, ‘This is just amazing.’ dating. It’s boys against girls. What more do you want?'”
I love both of these actors and think they will be great in these roles! Prime Video will premiere all eight episodes of Mr. and Mrs. Smith on February 2, 2024. Check out the photos and stay tuned for a trailer.
