I recently had the opportunity to watch this documentary and it was actually a really fun and entertaining film that offered some fascinating insights into the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. There are many things it reveals that I wasn’t aware of before and the information is delivered in an incredibly entertaining way!

In 1977, “Star Wars” became a cultural phenomenon that single-handedly revitalized a stagnant film industry and forever changed the way films were sold, made and marketed. The films would never be the same again.

A year later, not even television.

In 1978, CBS aired the two-hour “Star Wars Holiday Special” during Thanksgiving week and it was watched by 13 million people. It never aired.

While some fans of the series are aware of this dark secret, this bizarre two hours of television still remains relatively unknown to the general public. In a nutshell, we’ll answer how and why the “Holiday Special” was created.

The special would never be shown again. The only place you can watch it is on YouTube, but it was never officially released by Lucasfilm.

As I said in my review: “A disturbance in the Force is a fun little gem for Star Wars fans and offers an in-depth exploration of a hidden corner of the Star Wars galaxy, while celebrating the cultural impact of the franchise. It’s a trip back in time and a heartfelt tribute to the enduring magic of Star Wars. The documentary promises an entertaining and enlightening experience that you won’t want to miss.

The film comes from the directors Jeremy Coons AND Steve Kozak and contains interviews with various actors, writers, specialists and more. Also includes old interviews and archive footage.

The film will also screen in select theaters in the US, UK and Australia ahead of its home entertainment release. Adam F. Goldberg was executive producer.
