20th Century Studios has shared a sneak peek photo from its upcoming psychological horror thriller The first omen. This film will serve as a prequel to the 1976 classic Richard Donner movie. It was also announced that the film will be released in theaters on April 5, 2024.
In the film, “When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil . incarnate.”
The first omen stars Nell Tiger free (Servant), Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (The Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Onyx the Fortuitous), AND Bill Nighy (Life).
The film is directed by Arkasha Stevensonwith a history of Ben Jacoby (To bleed) and a screenplay by Tim Smith AND Arkasha Stevenson AND Keith Thomas (Fire starter).
The film revolves around the disturbing events surrounding the birth of Damien Thorn. As the American ambassador to England, Robert Thorn, played by Gregory Peckand his wife Katherine, played by Lee Remick, they adopt the seemingly innocent Damien after the tragic death of their own son. However, as Damien ages, disturbing events and a series of mysterious deaths occur, leading Robert to investigate the sinister truth behind his adopted son’s origin. With its atmospheric tension, chilling soundtrack and memorable performances, The omen has become a point of reference in the horror genre.
That film spawned three sequels, including 1978 Damien: Omen II and 1981 The final conflictas well as the 2006 reboot. There was also a short run Damian TV shows.
David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman Begins) produced the film together with Keith Levine (The House of Night).
