X fast AND The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier he had once proposed to Lucasfilm a Star Wars series inspired by the classic Japanese film series “Lone Wolf and His Cub” long before The Mandalorian It was made. The director revealed this information during an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He said:
“I had [a dream Star Wars project] way back when I went to them and said, “We should do a Star Wars TV show designed as a lone wolf and a cub.” They said, “We don’t know if that’s a great idea.” We’ll get back to you with this idea.’”
It’s interesting to see how things have changed over the years. Lucasfilm has become a little more open to universe-expanding ideas, but years ago it seemed like they just wanted to stick with stories heavily tied to legacy characters.
I love what Jon Favreau AND Dave Filoni they did with The Mandalorianbut if this concept had been done earlier, I wonder what kind of story it would have told and how fans would have reacted.
Leterrier also went on to say that he was interested in exploring events prior to 1977 A new hope and, potentially, a Boba Fett movie.
Leterrier later revealed it X fast he has a couple Star Wars hidden sound effects in the final cut of the film. He said: “We’re all trying, in a way, to do a Star Wars movie. Even in my last film, X fast, I inserted the TIE Fighter sounds into it. I just can’t help myself.”
Maybe one day Leterrier will have the opportunity to play in the Star Wars sandbox, but all the projects he wanted to do in space are now in the works.
So Louis Leterrier essentially proposed THE MANDALORIAN before THE MANDALORIAN.
