Deadline’s Sound & Screen, our composer’s presentation of original music for some of this year’s award-winning films, opens tonight at UCLA’s Royce Hall, with a 60-piece orchestra making everything sing.
The industry selector event begins with a pre-reception at 5:30 PM (PT), with performances beginning at 6:45 PM. Follow Deadline’s social channels throughout the evening using #DeadlineSoundAndScreen and stay with Deadline for complete panel coverage.
This year’s lineup includes Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, co-composers and songwriters of the Warner Bros. hit. Pictures Barbiee, showing viewers how they approached this film’s music and wrote the catchy song “I’m Just Ken.” Plus, Scottish musician Gary Clark is here to tell us about his latest collaboration with John Carney: the musical drama Flora and son from Apple Original Films.
Prolific composer and conductor Mark Graham will also be on hand to discuss his recent work on Martin Scorsese Flower Moon Killer. Deadline also welcomes acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren, here for her work on two films: Flamin’ Hot And 80 for Brady. Warren has worked with artists such as Elton John, Celine Dion and Tina Turner, to name a few.
Composer Martin Phipps will also be on hand to present music from Columbia Pictures and Joaquin Phoenix from Apple Original Films. Napoleon.
