Zack Snyder is expanding his REBEL MOON franchise with an animated series, a podcast, a comic book and an 800-year timeline

Zack Snyder he’s taking his world-building talents to an epic level Rebel moon franchising. He’s banking everything on this thing and the two films coming to Netflix, Rebel Moon: Part One – A Daughter of Fire AND Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiverthey’re just the beginning of what the director has planned.

Snyder revealed to GameRadar that he is also developing a Rebel moon animated series, an animated comic, and a narrative podcast, all set before the events of the first film.

“I’m the gatekeeper of what’s possible. I’m the only one who knows where the whole story is going, and I’ve mapped it all the way out. We’re making a narrative podcast and an animated comic, and an animated series. That’s all set before the events of the film. So you can begin to understand the breadth of the mythology that we’ve worked on.”

This is just the beginning, though! Co-writer Kurt Johnston explains that there is an 800 year timeline for them to work with as they play in this universe. Johnston explained:

“The world is very, very detailed and detailed. There are hundreds and hundreds of pages of documents of methodology, mythology and lore. The timeline goes back 800 years, starting with our films.”

This timeline also extends to a 12-foot whiteboard in the writers’ room, which features the entire Rebel moon timeline. Johnstad continued:

“There’s a ruler with thumbs under that board, and the two films are literally two or three inches of the entire 12-foot span.”

It’s really cool! It was previously revealed that Snyder had written a 450-page bible for him Rebel moon, which details “all sorts of lore and backstories relating to the evil Imperium.” He is also working on a TV series that would explore the story of the saga’s villain, Brother Feeit’s Balisarius, and there’s also a third film.

The film’s story follows a ragtag group of rebels who rise up to fight against a giant, evil empire. It is set in a “peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Balisarius. They send a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand against the Tyrant.

This is a two-part film and each part will have an R-rated edition for fans to watch as well. Movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Bae Doona, Djimon Hounsou. Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Anthony Hopkins, AND Alfonso Herrera.

The two Rebel moon the films have the title A child of fire and the second titled The Scarifierwhich will be released next spring. A child of fire will arrive on Netflix on December 22nd.
