EXCLUSIVE: Stars Collective, a Los Angeles-based film financing and mentoring arm, has announced the launch of the Stars Asian International Film Festival – a new capsule film screening taking place November 12-16 in Los Angeles.
Presenting a dozen feature film selections celebrating Asian cinema, the festival will highlight a wide variety of exceptional films by Asian filmmakers, including a Xiaogang Feng retrospective running June 9-16. The festival begins with the opening ceremony on November 12; the StarS Summit, held on November 13 at the Petersen Automotive Museum; followed by the StarS Gala in collaboration with Women In Film (WIF) on November 14 at the Audrey Irmas Pavilion; and concluded with the closing gala at the Los Angeles Theater on November 16.

Films selected for the Stars Asian International Film Festival have the opportunity to compete in the following categories: Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Jury Prize, as well as Honorary Awards for Outstanding Film Achievement, Most Groundbreaking Film and Breakthrough filmmaker, Outstanding Asian Artists and the special multicultural impact of the stars.

Monk and the gun, Bhutan’s entry for the Best International Film category at the 2024 Academy Awards. The opening ceremony will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The festival ends with Wuershan’s classic mythological blockbuster Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms (China).
Based on the classics of Chinese literature Investment of the gods, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms is directed by Wuershan and produced by Beijing Culture. Producer Shanshan Luo played a crucial role in bringing the film to the international market. Well Go USA Entertainment distributed the ambitious, large-scale adaptation in North America in both standard and Imax formats.
With Kris Philips, Xia Yu, Huang Bo and Li Xuejian, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms depicts a mythical war between humans, immortals and monsters that took place three thousand years ago. The epic dominated the Chinese box office in the summer of 2023, earning the equivalent of $362 million so far.
