Axed BATGIRL Composer Natalie Holt Talks Collaborating with Danny Elfman to Score the Film

HBO was scrapped Bad girl the film left such destruction in its wake. After it was canceled by cable television, there were many reports from actors and creators lamenting the story, action, and acting that fans were missing out on by not having the chance to see the film they finished. Another aspect of the film that fell through the cracks was the soundtrack composed by Natalie Holtwhich went on to mark the second season of Loki aDisney+.

When Holt sat down with ComicBook to talk about Loki, she was asked about her Bad girl efforts, and talked about consulting a music legend Danny Elfmann:

“I sort of overtook the score. I had everything written down and talked to Danny Elfman, actually. I started working on it and Adil and Bilal said, “We have Michael Keaton here.” We want to use the theme of him from the Eighties.” I thought, ‘I’d like to talk to Danny and see if he’ll let me work on his theme,’ because I thought that would be the best way to do it.”

Holt went on to explain how he met the ’89 composer Batman and 1992 The Return of Batman:

“My agent got in touch with his agent and we ended up chatting, and it was the first time I talked to him. He was so generous and happy to have been invited. And he said, “It’s so cool that you ask permission and that you want to carry on the theme of this character.” It’s really cool.” So yeah, he was really excited for me to play with his material. It’s very sad that that didn’t happen [and that] people couldn’t hear it. But I’m happy I met Danny Elfman.

Is fantastic! It’s a shame we didn’t get to see the film or hear his adapted theme, but at least he got to collaborate with Elfman.
