Jamie Lee Curtis pays homage to the original HALLOWEEN film on its 45th anniversary

Jamie Lee Curtis recently took to social media to pay tribute to Giovanni Carpenteris the 1978 horror classic Halloween on its 45th anniversary. This is the film that launched her career. Her Laurie Strode’s role of her is a character she has enjoyed reprising over the years and her time as her character may very well have ended with Halloween ends. This is a franchise that she loved and appreciated. and here’s what he has to say about it:

“45 years ago today, a 17-day, no-budget horror film, Halloween, was released, set in Haddonfield, Illinois, where a young babysitter, Laurie Strode, meets the man who would terrorize her and her community. It was written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill and was directed and scored [John Carpenter] and a diverse group of young independent filmmakers, who came together for three intense weeks in 1978. None of us knew that 45 years later we would be telling and retelling that same, simple story of good versus evil, and that it would give light a feminist icon, the final girl. This film and Laurie Strode gave me the career I continue to have because of her.”

THE Halloween the franchise will live on as Miramax is currently developing a film and television “cinematic universe”. I have no idea what this will entail, but they feel like there’s still a lot of life left in this franchise, and horror fans will witness the return of Michael Meyers as he embarks on many more killing sprees.

It’s pretty crazy that the original horror movie spawned this crazy horror franchise. You can see Curtis’ Instagram post below.
