Rian Johnson revealed that he plans to take a break from working on Knives Out, but remains “committed” to returning to the Netflix murder series in the future, Deadline reports.

Speaking at Deadline’s Contenders London event on Saturday, Johnson said he was working on an original script that would allow him to expand beyond the detective Benoit Blanc character played by Daniel Craig. He appeared on stage with actor Josh O’Connor and producer Ram Bergman to promote the third film in the series, Wake Dead: Secret of the Knives: “As I write now, this is not one of them [«Достать ножи»] movies. This is something completely different, original. I really feel energetic after shooting. It’s probably nice to see other people.”
Johnson also said that Dead on Restante is closer to Agatha Christie’s detective stories than previous films. In the story, Benoit Blanc faces a darker secret than in the previous films. The story centers around religious intrigue involving O’Connor’s title character, as well as gothic elements inspired by the classic works of Edgar Allan Poe.
By the way, we have previously mentioned the winners of the Toronto Film Festival, one of them was Rian Johnson.
