Josh Peck says he was among the last few actors in the running to play Edward in TWILIGHT

Josh Peckbest known for acting in the shows Drake and Josh, Turner and HoochAND How I met your fatherrevealed this week that he was in the running to play Edward Cullen in the film Dusk film, and even made it to the last, but as we all know, he was beaten Robert Pattinson for the role. Peck had done it Dusk alum Taylor Lautner on a recent episode of his podcast Big guys (via Bustle), and revealed that he was almost cast in the role.

Peck reminded Lautner:

“I remember it’s like 2006? 7? They’re like, ‘The audition for this movie, Twilight, it’s based on a book, it’s going to be great.’ So I send my tape, for Edward.

Peck said that although he ultimately didn’t get the part, he was on the verge of getting it.

“A month later, I was with my manager and he says, ‘It’s up to you and three guys, you’re close.’”

Peck says he was shocked by this development.

“I’m like, ‘Really?’ I hadn’t even had a tummy tuck yet, I was like, ‘There’s no way.’ He has to go shirtless, that’s not going to happen.” Spoiler alert: I didn’t get it.

This was all new information to Lautner, who would welcome Peck into the world of Dusk. “I knew it? It’s amazing,” she noted.

Peck wasn’t the only actor to give his name to Edward Cullen. Scott Eastwood, Dave FrancoAND Dustin Milligan they all revealed that they auditioned to play the vampire.

Some of the actors who got other roles in the film Dusk The cinematic universe also initially auditioned for Edward, including Jamie Campbell Bowerwho ended up playing Caius, and Michael Welchwho played the role of Mike Newton.

However, despite Peck’s claim to be one of the last contenders for the role of Edward, he may not have made it as far as he thought. In June, E! reported that the final four contenders to play Edward were Pattinson, Ben Barnes, Shiloh FernandezAND Jackson Rathbonewho would later play Edward’s brother Jasper.

All four actors reportedly went to the director Catherine Hardwickethey’re home in California doing their final auditions in front Kristen Stewart, who had already been cast as Bella Swan. And according to Stewart, who spoke about the final auditions with The New Yorker in 2021, she knew from the beginning she was making the right choice. “It was so clear who was working. I was literally just, like…,” she said, imitating a fainting motion.

Peck is a solid actor and has been nice in the shows he has done, but he has more of a boy-next-door look. Pattinson has always been Edward, and it’s amazing that there were other contenders. THE Dusk the movies are silly, but you can’t deny that chemistry.
