Marvel Studios has hired a showrunner and new directors for its Daredevil: Born Again series. This comes a couple of weeks after Marvel fired its original team of writers and directors. The studio aims to steer the show in a new direction, believing this new team is in line with their vision for the series.
Dario Scardapanewho worked Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan as well as Netflix’s Marvel show The Punisher, was hired as the series’ showrunner. It was also announced that Loki will be the director Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorheadwere hired to direct the remaining episode of Daredevil: Born Again. To date, about half of the first season’s episodes have been completed.
I love that they hired the creative talent behind the Punisher series. This gives me hope Daredevil: Born Again it is in good hands. But only time will tell how good the show will be. Punisher was full of badass action and bloody violence. But it also told a solid story.
There have been some rumors regarding the story the series will tell, but with the series in the midst of a creative overhaul, that can all change. I guess the main focus of the story will remain the same.
The Netflix original Reckless the series was fantastic. I loved that show and it set the bar pretty high. The big question with Daredevil: Born Again Will it reach that level of awesomeness? I hope so, but it won’t be easy.
