Singer Britney Spears she is best known for her hit albums over the past two decades, but she has also starred in a couple of movies and guest starred on a few shows over the years. Her acting career almost took a bigger turn in 2004, when she was almost cast in the lead role of Allie in The notebook. The role was played by Rachel McAdams, and the film became an instant classic. So it seems like Spears may feel remorse for not getting the part, but she apparently is just relieved.
In Britney Spears’ recently released memoir, The woman in me (via People), the pop star explained:
“That was pretty much the beginning and end of my acting career, and I felt relieved. Casting Notebook fell to me and Rachel McAdams, and while it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on the Mickey Mouse Club, I’m glad we didn’t. If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone I would have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night.
Spears is a good singer and dancer, but not the best actress, so I’m happy that McAdams was chosen instead because I really like her The notebook. Can you imagine Spears in the role?
