Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t like the term ‘Nepo Baby’, calling it an ‘ugly name’

Gwyneth Paltrow speaks out about the term “fake baby” being used to describe children of famous parents. Paltrow is the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and director Bruce Paltrow and calls it an “ugly name.”

In an interview with Bustle, the idea is to help her daughter Apple, who she shares with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, but Paltrow says, “She’s a very private person.”

“Now there’s a whole nepo-baby culture and judgment about famous people’s kids,” Paltrow said during the interview. “She’s really just a student, and she’s very… She just wants to be a kid and go to school and learn. But there is nothing wrong with doing or wanting to do what your parents do.”

She continued: “No one argues with a child who says, ‘I want to be a doctor like my father and grandfather.’ The truth is that when you grow up in a house with a lot of artists and people who make art and music, you know that just like when you grow up in a house with demands, the dinner table conversations revolve around the nuances.Which specific law whatever the parents apply. I think it’s an ugly name.”

Paltrow said she hopes her children “always have the freedom to pursue exactly what they want to do, no matter what anyone thinks or says.”

The debate over nepotism in Hollywood continues and earlier this year Hopper Penn, the son of Sean Penn and Robin Wright, said he doesn’t care if people think he’s a “nepo baby” because he’s following in his footsteps who parents came. Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia entered the modeling world and does not deny the privilege of being part of the industry in which her mother achieved success. Thank God,” Kaia said Elle earlier in the year.
