Another sequel to the V/H/S Horror anthology film franchise has been announced and the announcement comes after the release of V/H/S/85 on Brivido. However, the makers will change things with the next film, as it will focus on science fiction. The new film will include five “chilling tapes, placing horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.”
Shudder made the announcement over the weekend at its New York Comic Con panel. Head of AMC Networks’ Motion Picture Group Scott Shooman She said:
“The V/H/S franchise has been terrorizing and entertaining audiences for over a decade now thanks to the work of some of the genre’s most gifted directors. Following the enormous success of V/H/S/85 and its previous installments on Shudder “, it’s clear that the filmmaking team won’t be running out of unique ideas anytime soon. We’re excited that the franchise is going in a bold new direction that will surprise fans and newcomers alike, and demonstrate the innovative capabilities of science fiction.” fi in the world of V/H/S.”
Producer Josh Goldbloom added:
“Jason Voorhees, Leprechaun, Pinhead, Dracula and even the Amityville House of Horror have ended up in space, so as we move into our Part 7 it was only natural that we would too,” added producer Josh Goldbloom. “The sci-fi horror genre offers us an endless playground of forbidden worlds and dangerous lifeforms, a formula we’re confident will lead to the biggest, craziest, bloodiest V/H/S yet.”
President of Scripted Content at Studio71 Michael Schreiber shared:
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Shudder on a groundbreaking new V/H/S film! The V/H/S franchise has become a cornerstone of the horror genre and provides filmmakers with an unfiltered platform to push boundaries and tell innovative stories.”
Additionally, the upcoming V/H/S will be produced by Goldbloom for Cinepocalypse Brad Miska AND James Harris (47 meters below) together with the executive producers Michael Schreiber AND Adam Boorstin for Studio71.
