Paramount+ has released the full trailer for the film Taylor Sheridanwestern series produced Lawmen: Bass Reeves and this gives us our best look at the story the series will tell and the characters who will fill it. It’s going to be a great show and I’m excited to watch it! Damn… I love westerns! It looks like it will tell an intense story.
The series is the protagonist David Oyelowo in the lead role of Bass Reeves, who is the real-life figure who was the first black deputy U.S. marshal to serve in the territories across the Mississippi River.
This is an anthology series that will focus on a “different frontier hero every spin.” Bass Reeves was known as “the greatest frontier hero in American history and also credited as the inspiration for The Lone Ranger. He served in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in Indian Territory, apprehending over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being injured.”
Speaking about starring in the series, Oyolowo said: “The stories Jess and I want to tell push boundaries and are filled with people like we’ve rarely seen on screen. Bass Reeves’ extraordinary story exemplifies just that. Collaborating with world-class talent like Taylor Sheridan to tell those stories to the widest audience possible, is our dream, and we believe it can and will be realized through the shared ambitions we have with ViacomCBS and its exclusively branded platforms, together with our expert and brilliant production partners at 101 Studios.”
The rest of the cast includes Dennis Quaid as Sherrill Lynn, a deputy US marshal; AND Barry Pepper he will play Esau Pierce, “the leader of the first Cherokee Mounted Rifles and himself a seasoned warrior in battle.” Garrett Hedlund takes on the role of Garrett Montgomery, “a so-called posse man of the era who Bass hires for his driving know-how and experience in the area.” The rest of the cast includes Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Good Luck, Shae WhighamAND Grantham Coleman. Yellowstone actor Mo brings a lot he also joined the series. Then, there is Donald Sutherlandwho will play Judge Isaac Parker, “an imposing and commanding judge in the Fort Smith courthouse with a complicated legacy.”
Lawmen: Bass Reeves was created by Chad Feehan, who also serves as showrunner. The series will premiere on Paramount+ on November 5.
