A new limited series is on the way and will chronicle the rise of Tom Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, and his time on the NFL team, the New England Patriots. Paolo Tamasy AND Eric Johnsonwho were nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the 2010 film The fighterthey are adapting Casey Sherman AND Dave Wedgethe best-selling book of 2018, 12: The inside story of Tom Brady’s fight for redemption.
“The way of the patriot chronicles Brady’s unlikely rise from sixth-round NFL draft pick to his half-dozen Super Bowl victories with the Patriots, the Aaron Hernandez, Spygate and Deflategate scandals, and Brady’s battle of wills with coach Bill Belichick.
Tamasy and Johnson said of the project:
“The New England Patriots have dominated the professional sports landscape for 20 years. Our series will take audiences inside Gillette Stadium, better known as Fortress Foxboro, to shed new light on the thrilling and historic comeback victories; the dark side of success; and build a culture of winning at all costs.”
The filmmaking team says it will not seek any image rights to portray Brady or the Patriots because the NFL great and his former colleagues are public figures: “this gives us the freedom to tell the story without filters,” they said. Brady himself is not involved in the series.
