The creator of the hit superhero animated series Invincible, Robert Kirkmann, recently talked about what fans should expect from the upcoming second season and what the big picture of the project is. She talked about his overall goals and in the meantime revealed the number of planned seasons he wants to run for the show to tell his story.
During an interview with Polygon, Kirkman was asked about the big picture and the goal of the story he wants to tell, and he explained:
“I’m trying not to reduce it to a number, because it’s kind of a moving target. I think seven to eight seasons seems to be enough. But there may be some things that we advance a little faster, some things that we expand. If we’re lucky enough to last long, I think it would be enough to cover the entire comic. And there are some things along the way that didn’t make it into the comic that I’d like to do. I think it would be nice to have a few episodes here and there that are completely original. So that’s part of the plan moving forward.
There’s no doubt that fans would love it if the series actually ended up lasting seven to eight seasons! There’s definitely a lot of story to tell, but telling it in its entirety all depends on whether people continue to tune in and watch the show. Ratings need to remain strong, but as long as the creative team continues to produce good quality content, it’s likely that Kirkman will be able to realize his full vision.
There’s a lot of story to tell here and it would be a shame if the series ended before Kirkman could finish telling that story.
Invincible revolves around seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who is just like every other boy his age, except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (JK Simmons). The season 1 finale was crazy as it ended with the reveal of Omni-Man’s true twisted intentions. I’m excited to see how the story continues to unfold in Season 2!
The series is also the protagonist Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Zechariah Quintus, Jason Mantzoukas, Melise, Marco Hamill, Mahershala Ali, Seth Rogenand more.
The second season of Invincible will arrive on Amazon Prime on November 3 this year.
