Apollo 11 star Tom Hanks came aboard another space project titled, The Moonwalkerswhich he plans to co-write and narrate. The Moonwalkers is described as “an immersive art exhibition in London based on the stories of the Apollo space missions”.
The exhibit “will feature original NASA footage and images from Apollo Remastered, the classic photography book by Andy Saunders, who will also serve as consulting producer.” Hanks will also interview astronauts from NASA’s Artemis program for the project.
Hanks said in a statement: “Growing up when humanity first went to the Moon, I was transfixed by the Apollo missions and dreamed of taking trips with astronauts. I worked on several projects that attempted to bring to life the breathtaking scope of going to the Moon and the edgy drama of every journey, every chapter of Apollo.”
He added: “Lightroom’s extraordinary and unique production capabilities allow me, along with Christopher Riley, to tell what we believe is the most visceral and compelling story to date of humanity’s journeys beyond our earth, including a unique vision of the future of human beings.” will walk on the Moon: the Artemis missions.”
The Moonwalkers will be directed and created by 59 Productions. This is the same team behind Lightroom’s recent immersive exhibit David Hockney: Bigger and closer, based on Hockney’s work. It also includes their previous work Apollo 50: aiming for the Moon at the Washington Monument.
Hanks will organize the exhibition with Christopher Rile and it will be held at the Lightroom in Kings Cross in London.
