There is something new Buffy the Vampire Slayer project that comes in the form of a podcast thanks to Audible. The podcast is called Slayers: A History of the Buffyverseand will bring back some cast members from the original series!
Entertainment Weekly shared: “Slayers: A History of the Buffyverse is an original audio set 20 years after the series finale and features James Marsters reprising his role alongside Carpenter Charisma, Antonio Testa, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, James Charles LearyAND Danny Forteas well as a newcomer Laya DeLeon Hayes.”
As for the story, “The story of Slayers begins when Spike went undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he has returned to his evil ways. But when his cover is compromised by 16-year-old Indira Nunnally (Hayes), Spike finds himself babysitting again. As he tries to track down a Watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never existed and Cordelia Chase (Carpenter) is the one and only Huntress. And Cordelia needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… her old flame, Drusilla (Landau).”
Marsters said in a statement: “I’m thrilled to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar yet unexpected journey, chock-full of horror, passion and mischief. I’m excited for fans new and old to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling.”
The original audio was written by Amber Benson AND Christopher Goldand directed by Benson, Golden and Kc Wayland. You can check out Audible’s teaser artwork below. It looks like it will be fun for Buffy fans and I’m excited to dive in and see how the story unfolds.
