THE James Gunn-produced the 2019 supervillain horror film Burns bright is still getting a following. The first film is basically a Superman-inspired horror story, centering on an alien child who crash-lands on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero, he becomes a murderous villain.
It was recently reported that The H Collective, which produced Burns bright, will launch a new company called H3 Entertainment. The company is said to be incorporating new technologies such as Metaverse, Web3, and artificial intelligence into its upcoming projects. Burns bright is listed as one of the projects they will develop.
There are no details on the production timeline, but the sequel is in the works. Burns bright was directed by David Yarovesky and written by Brian Gunn AND Mark Gunn, brother and cousin of James Gunn. It is unknown who from the original team will be involved in the sequel.
Yarovesky previously said of a sequel: “If we were to expand the Burns bright universe in other episodes and in other ways, we would probably do it exactly the same way… in total secrecy and then at some point release a theatrical trailer that teaches you what that new direction might be.”
In the film’s post-credits scene, the villainous Justice League was teased. The scene features talk show host The Big T, played by Michael Rockerannouncing that there is a “half-man, half-sea creature” in the ocean, as well as a powerful witch who suffocates her victims with rope.
The film starred Elizabeth Banks, David BenmannAND Jackson A. Dunn. The synopsis reads: “What if a child from another world crash-lands on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to humanity, he turns out to be something far more sinister? With Burns brightthe visionary director of Guardians of the Galaxy AND Slip presents a surprising and subversive approach to a radically new genre: superhero horror.”
