He shouted franchise creator and writer Kevin Williamson has recently opened approx Neve Campbellexclusion from Scream VI after Paramount Pictures offered her a deal that undervalued her and her enormous contributions to the horror franchise. Before Scream VI has started production, he said:
“Unfortunately I won’t be doing the next Scream movie. As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard in my career to establish my worth, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt that the offer I was presented with did not equate to the value I brought to the franchise.
“It was a very difficult decision to move forward. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You have always been so incredibly supportive. I will be forever grateful to you and what this franchise has given me over the last 25 years.
In a recent interview with Good horror moment podcast, Williamson shared his support for Campbell and his decision not to return and play Sidney Prescott Scream VI. He said the studio should give Campbell his due for what he brings to the franchise, and I agree 100%! He said:
“I know her well. I love her and adore her, and that’s what he made of her, and that’s great for her. I love everyone involved with Scream and all I can say is pay her money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. This is what I would do. I would give it to him.
Paramount Pictures is in development Scream VII AND Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon found himself at the helm of that film. Hopefully they can work out the deal to bring Campbell back to the franchise. It would be a shame if the studio continued to waste this opportunity. He shouted it simply isn’t He shouted without Campbell.
