It was made very clear from the moment Marvel Studios announced it Deadpool 3 that the film would carry on with the same violent, vulgar, R-rated tone as the first two films. With the franchise now at Disney, these R-rated things are something fans have had to be convinced of, and there are so many interviews with the creative team talking about how they had no interference from the studio and that they have the right of freedom to do what they want.
Now director Shawn Levy has spoken openly about the story of Deadpool 3 Expiration: “Long before I loved Ryan Reynolds, I loved Deadpool. I love Deadpool. Deadpool 1 is, to me, like a perfect movie, so I wasn’t going to mess with the DNA of that franchise.”
Levy went on to discuss the film’s R rating calling it “raw” and “bold” and “very R-rated”. He also talked about the way they’re shooting the film and the tone he’s going for:
“Our film is raw, bold, definitely R-rated. We went to great lengths not to shoot it on stages with digital environments. The Internet proved it by revealing images of our filming. But no, we wanted something that felt grounded. If you put Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character along with Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character, I would say he’s more of a descendant of Midnight Race, 48 Hours and Planes, Trains and Automobiles than a descendant of Airplane.”
The production of the film is currently suspended due to the actor’s strike and we will probably have to wait a little longer before seeing the film in theaters. When it releases, though, I think fans will be very happy with what this creative team delivers.
The film is also the protagonist Emma Corrin like the bad guy, Morena Baccarin AND Stefan Kapicic like Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggam in the role of blind Al. They are united by Brianna Hildebrand AND Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend, Yukio. Then, there is Jennifer Garner, who will return as Elektra.
There are also rumors of a lot of cameos for the film.
