by Studio Ghibli The boy and the heron is marketed as Hayao Miyazakiit’s the last film, but it seems like that’s not really the case! Studio Ghibli executive Junichi Nishioka recently said at the film’s TIFF premiere that Miyazaki isn’t thinking about retirement, but he is thinking about the next movie he wants to make.
In an interview with CBC on the red carpet Nishioka said of Miyazaki:
“Others say this could be his last film, but he doesn’t think so at all. He is currently working on ideas for a new film. She comes to his office every day and does it. This time she won’t announce her retirement at all. She is continuing to work as she always has.”
Miyazaki is 83 years old and a master of animation. Even though he has earned his retirement, I love that he is still excited to continue following his passion and doing what he loves! He really loves the job and enjoys it Clint Eastwood, will continue to make films until his time on this Earth is over. So with all that being said, I’m excited to see what she does next!
The boy and the heron opened earlier this summer in Japan with this title How do you live? It is scheduled to be released in North American theaters on December 8th.
