Cristina Hendricks (Mad Med) AND Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon) are among the cast members who will join the six-part comedy-drama, Small town, big historyby the actor Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, State of the union. O’Dowd created and will direct the six-part comedy-drama, “which tells the story of the effect on a small Irish village when a Hollywood production begins filming on its doorstep and the bewildered residents struggle to keep hidden a secret buried by time. “
The series is an Equity production, filmed in the UK and Ireland, but Sky has stressed that all cast agreements comply with SAG-AFTRA rules in light of the ongoing actors’ strike. The cast was contracted before the strike.
In the series, “Hendricks will play Wendy Patterson, a successful Los Angeles producer who grows up in the fictional Irish village of Drumbán, while Considine plays local doctor and community advocate Seamus Proctor.”
The cast is completed by Eileen Walsh (Catastrophe), who plays Proctor’s wife, Catherine; Leila Murphy (Fair City) AND David Rawle (Moone Boy) as siblings Joanne and Sonny; Patrick Martins (The Confessions of Frannie Langton) as Jules O’Brien; Evanne Kilgallon (Obituary) as Shelly McGoldrick; Andrew Bennett (The quiet girl) as Barry Battles; Ruth McCabe (Aisha) as Betty Battles; AND David Wilmot (Station eleven) as Keith McCurdle.
More castings will be announced soon. O’Dowd will co-direct Catherine Morshead, Mike Ahern AND Enda Loughmann.
Small town, big history has already started filming in Ireland and will premiere in the UK and Ireland on Sky (and the Sky Now streaming platform) in 2024.
