Director Kevin Smith is planning to sell his entire collection of original comics. This collection includes the covers and interior illustrations of the comic book projects she has worked on over the years, as well as other work that he has collected.
It’s not hard to imagine how difficult it will be for him. I’ve collected a lot of stuff over the years and it would be so hard to get rid of it.
So why is Smith selling off all this stuff? He lives in a smaller house in New Jersey near the movie theater where he plans to shoot his next film. The 4.30pm movie. He explained:
“My current reduction in home wall space will make some ardent comic collectors’ dreams come true! Own original interior decorations or killer covers from my Daredevil and Green Arrow series! Choose from the classic comic book graphics I have collected over the years! This will be the sale of the century and a percentage of our proceeds will go to a scholarship fund at the Joe Kubert School!”
The auction will be curated by Bodnar’s Auction House, with a live auction featuring Smith himself. The auction will take place online on Wednesday 27 September.
Smith’s collection includes pages from Preacher, Hitman, The devil, Batman, Green Arrow, Reckless, The Sandmanand more. All Matt Wagner covers from Green Arrow will also be up for sale, and are expected to fetch between $1,500 and $3,000 each, and the auction will also feature the inside pages for Quick stopsSmith’s recent Dark Horse Comics series set in the View Askewniverse, which is the shared universe in which most of Smith’s films are set.
Bodnar’s is compiling a comprehensive online catalog at www.bodnarsauction.com, giving potential bidders the ability to view the collection and plan their auction strategy. The pre-offer has already started and all lots will start at $10.00.
