THOR 5 is reportedly in development at Marvel Studios with Taika Waititi

After the credits roll Thor: Love and thunder, the words “Thor Will Return” popped up on the screen, so we all knew at some point we’d get a fifth Thor movie. It’s not surprising to learn this Thor 5 may be under development, what is surprising is that Taika Waititi he is said to be returning to direct it.

The news comes from the insider MyTimeToShineHi, who stated on social media: “Thor 5 is in development at Marvel Studios. Unfortunately, there’s a good chance Taika Waititi will return to direct, but it’s NOT a done deal. I’d love to see someone like Sam Hargrave do that, he’ll make a badass Thor movie.

Yeah, after the last Thor movie, I’d be good if Waititi didn’t come back to direct. That movie got too silly and stupid and wasted the talents of everyone involved with it.

Now, while the report says the film is in development, we all know that’s not quite the case right now due to the strikes in Hollywood. But perhaps Marvel was early in development on the film before the strikes hit.

Talking about what he’d like to do with another Thor movie, Waititi said, “What’s left for him to do? It has to be something that seems to continue with the character’s evolution, but still in a very fun way and still giving him things to face off that seem to build on the obstacles she has to overcome. I don’t think we can have a villain that’s weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to take Hela one step further. There and add a villain that’s more formidable in some ways.”

Chris Hemsworth he previously shared his thoughts on a new film saying, “I mean, look at Thor one and two, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love & Thunder: similar. I think it’s just about reinventing it. unique also with [Avengers] Infinity War and Endgame to do very drastic things with the character; I like it, I like keeping people alert, it keeps me alert, it keeps me invested. And I’ve said this before: when it gets too familiar, I think there’s a risk of getting lazy, I think, like, ‘Ah, I know what I’m doing,’ you know? So I don’t know — again, I don’t even know if I’ll be invited back. But if you were, I think it would have to be a drastically different take: tone, everything. Just for my sanity [laughs].”

It will be a while before we see a fifth Thor movie, but what would you like to see in it? Is there another director you would like to see direct?
