Transformers: Rise of the Beasts set a new record for Paramount Pictures as the lowest-grossing Transformers film in the franchise! Still haven’t figured out by the studio that they’re on the wrong track and are trying to fix a sinking ship that people are losing interest in.
The film grossed $437 million at the box office worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing live action film Transformers movies to date. Also Bumblebee, which was the franchise’s best, grossed just $465.2 million. It’s rather absurd to think so Transformers: Dark of the Moon sits atop the franchise with $1.12 billion at the box office because that movie wasn’t any good!
This franchise is all over the place and it’s time to stop. Now they’ve thrown GI Joe into the mix thinking this will excite the fans, but they’re doing it completely wrong! I don’t think their current plan, or lack of a plan, is going to work. I am convinced that the studios and producers of the franchise don’t know what the hell they are doing, so they will continue to kill the franchise.
The rise of the beasts not going as well as the studio had hoped, you’d think they’d have to rethink their entire approach. But I don’t think they will. I think they’ll just go back to making Transformers movies like Dark of the Moon because they think the formula works.
I’ve already shared my take on the Transformers and GI Joe movies and to do this properly, they really need to start over. I’m sure they’ll have all kinds of meetings about how to proceed with the franchise, but I have a feeling they’ll end up doing more of the same and audiences and fans will stop caring. It’s a shame, because these franchises fans should be excited about!
