We have a behind-the-scenes featurette to watch Kenneth Branaghthe next supernatural horror mystery thriller by An obsession in Venicewhich inspires it Agatha Christie’s novel Halloween party. I’ve also included a collection of posters, most of which highlight the film’s main characters.
Branagh reprises his role as Hercule Poirot and the story sees him embarking on a disturbing supernatural adventure. I actually love that the next film in the Branagh series is a horror film, and it looks like it’s going to be good!
The new featurette offers some interesting story insights as the cast and crew talk about what they were trying to do with this film. They had a little fun making this movie as Branagh explains that they didn’t tell the cast about some of the weird things that would happen while they were making the movie.
Set in post-WWII Venice on the eve of All Saints’ Day, A Haunting in Venice is “a terrifying mystery with the return of the celebrated detective, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the most glamorous city in the world, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance in a rundown and haunted mansion. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.
Branagh previously said in a statement: “This is a fantastic development of the character of Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise. Based on a complex and little-known mystery story set on Halloween in a picturesquely captivating city, it’s an incredible opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we’re relishing the opportunity to deliver something truly chilling for our loyal cinematic audience.
Steve Asbellchairman of 20th Century Studios, says: “We are extremely privileged to continue our long association with the incomparable Sir Kenneth Branagh and we couldn’t be more excited about the bold new creative direction that Ken, Michael and the rest of the directing team have taken.” with this latest film We also remain grateful to James Prichard and the rest of our friends at Agatha Christie, Ltd., for their cooperation and for once again entrusting us with, as Poirot modestly calls himself, ‘probably the greatest detective in the world ‘”.
The ensemble cast includes Michelle Yeoh (Everything everywhere all at once). Kyle Allen (rosaline), Camillo Cottin (Call my agent), Jamie Dornan (Belfast), Tina Fei (30 stones), Jude Hill (Belfast), Al-Khan (6 dungeons), Emma Lair (mayor of Kingstown), Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), e Richard Scamarico (The shadow of Caravaggio).
The screenplay of the film was written by Michael Green (Logan) and A Haunting in Venice will be released in theaters nationwide on September 15, 2023.
