Here is a trailer for an upcoming foldable horror film titled Finally you come to quit, which is described as “Haunting, haunting and incredibly filmed – To Fire You Come At Last will take you on a journey you might not expect, a must watch.” It looks like an interesting film that tells a disturbing story.
The film is set in rural England in the 17th century, “a group of men gather to scare a coffin on the long walk to the local graveyard for burial. A great deal of ancient folklore and superstition surrounds the path to the church, and many of the men are afraid to walk it after dark. Squire Marlow, the grieving father of the dead man, promises to double their wages if they agree to make the trip.
The group consists of Holt, “a young carpenter from the local village, who was also the best friend of the deceased; Ransley, a drunk farmer; Pike, the Squire’s thug servant; and the Squire himself. As they hit the road, their conversation quickly turns argumentative and even violent. In the course of their quarrel, it is gradually revealed that Ransley and Holt had both wronged the dead man, and Squire Marlow threatens them with retribution on their return to the village.
It is explained that, “After dark, they begin to be plagued by a series of inexplicable events. An invisible hound – according to legend, a harbinger of bad luck – appears to be following them, and Ransley begins to glimpse what appears to be a ghostly figure. Panic quickly spreads through the group, despite the Squire’s increasingly brutal attempts to maintain order. As darkness closes in around them and more revelations come to light, the men finally realize they may be the victims of a mysterious conspiracy. But who is behind the plot and why? And will any of them survive to see the next sunrise?
I like movies like this that tell folk stories. The film comes from Severin Films and was written and directed by Sean Hogan (The devil’s business). The film is described as “an atmospheric homage to the great tradition of 1970s British supernatural television”.
To Fire You Come at Last will be screened at Fright Fest on Saturday 26th August at 6pm.
