Gal Gadot star in an upcoming action spy thriller Thtied Heart of stone and Netflix has released the final trailer for the project. It looks like a fun action movie and it’s a shame we won’t get to watch it on the big screen. Seriously, what’s the point of spending loads of money on these tent pole movies and not releasing them theatrically? Netflix is losing a lot of money.
Either way, this film puts a female twist on action franchises like Mission: Impossible and James Bond. The story is set in the world of international crime and follows a seasoned Interpol agent named Rachel Stone (Gadot), who “appears to be a rookie technician, in an elite MI6 unit led by Chief Agent Parker (Jamie Dornan).”
What his MI6 team doesn’t know is that “Stone actually works for the Charter, a secret peacekeeping organization, secret even from other spies, which uses cutting-edge technology to neutralize global threats. Rachel has been trained to be a consummate professional: a phenomenal field agent who sticks to her mission, she follows the numbers and trusts no one. When a routine mission is derailed by mysterious hacker Keya Dhawan (Alia Bhatt), Rachel’s two lives collide. As she races to protect the Charter and strives to beat the odds, her humanity may be her greatest asset.
The film is directed by Tom Harper (The Aeronauts) from a script by Greg Rucka AND Allison Schröder. Harper has previously explained that she hopes the film is the start of a new female-led action franchise — big franchises, but things that have been around for a long time: Mission: Impossibles or Bonds or Bournes,” Harper said. “I love those movies, but they’ve all been around for decades, so to work on something that was an addition to that genre but a piece of original material was really exciting and a real opportunity. And I also loved that it had a female lead at its core.”
Gadot previously said: “I realized there was an audience for a female action lead. I grew up watching Bond, Mission and Bourne. I wanted to make a really strong female action film that was for everyone, not a male story that has been done many times before.”
The film is also the protagonist Matthias Schweighöfer, Sophie Okonedo, Paul Ready, Jing Lusi, Angela Esposito, Jon Kortajarena, AND Matthew Cicconi. Coming to Netflix this week on August 11th!
